John MacArthur met his own definition of a false prophet

Grace Community Church announced tonight that their “beloved pastor and teacher John MacArthur has entered into the presence of the Savior.” Immediately, my newsfeed began to fill with conservative men singing MacArthur’s praises, talking about how grateful they were for this hero of the faith. If there was any acknowledgment of the immense harm MacArthur has perpetrated, it was couched in terms of MacArthur not being “perfect” or on not agreeing with MacArthur on “everything.”

To be clear, though it’s just coming out tonight, I wrote this piece back in January. So this wasn’t a hastily put together piece today. But it’s a very pointed piece with strong accusations against him and evidence to back it up. I’m already getting blasted for writing it, which I understand given how many authority-obsessed men look up to MacArthur like he’s their guru. But I didn’t write the piece for them. I wrote it because the women and children he and his elders abused shouldn't have to be quiet while all our newsfeeds fill with other men praising him. Amidst all the public celebration, I hope they’ll feel some quiet affirmation.
