One of the struggles many of us who deconstruct our conservative evangelical theology deal with is that we can focus a lot on discussing the theological ideas that we miss some of the embodied tendencies that may remain in us. This is especially tempting for white men in the deconstruction space and was essentially the point of my piece back in March about progressive Christian ministries not going far enough in identifying their embodied hierarchies.
A few days ago,
released a piece about how some of these tendencies play out for deconstructed content creators in an article titled When Deconstruction Becomes a Brand.I noticed how her piece led to a wide variety of responses in a few different places online. So I decided to spend an episode reading through her article and pausing throughout to share my own perspectives.
